Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using the Snow Shovel Help app, you agree to these terms and conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Service Description & Employment Status

Snow Shovel Help is a community platform that connects people who need snow shoveling assistance with volunteers willing to help. We are a facilitation platform only and do not provide shoveling services directly.

IMPORTANT: All volunteers are independent community members. Use of this platform does NOT create an employer-employee relationship, partnership, or agency between any user and the website owner.

3. Insurance & Coverage

The website owner does NOT provide insurance coverage of any kind (including but not limited to liability, medical, or worker's compensation insurance) for any user. Any and all shoveling activities are entirely at the participants' own risk.

4. User Responsibilities

As a requester, you agree to:

Provide accurate information about your property and needs
Be available at the scheduled time
Ensure the property is safe for volunteers to work
Treat volunteers with respect and courtesy

As a helper, you agree to:

Only commit to requests you can fulfill
Arrive at the agreed-upon time
Perform work safely and to the best of your ability
Notify the requester if you cannot make it

4. No Guarantee of Service

We do not guarantee that a volunteer will be available for every request. This is a community-driven platform dependent on volunteer availability.

5. Liability Disclaimer

Snow Shovel Help app is not responsible for any injuries, damages, or losses that occur during snow shoveling activities. All interactions and work performed are at the users' own risk.

6. User Conduct

Users must not use the platform for illegal activities, harassment, or any purpose other than legitimate snow shoveling assistance.

7. Privacy

By using the app, you consent to the sharing of your contact information with matched users for the purpose of coordinating snow shoveling services.

8. Cancellations

Both requesters and helpers may cancel at any time. We ask that you provide as much notice as possible when canceling.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of updated terms.

Your safety is paramount. Use caution when interacting with others through this platform.

Personal Safety

Meet volunteers in well-lit, visible areas
Tell a friend or family member when expecting a volunteer
Trust your instincts - if something feels wrong, cancel the arrangement
Keep your phone charged and accessible
Consider having someone else present during the service

Property Safety

Secure valuables before volunteers arrive
Do not give volunteers access to your home unless absolutely necessary
Ensure outdoor areas are clear of hazards
Inform volunteers of any dangerous areas (ice patches, uneven surfaces, etc.)

Physical Safety (For Helpers)

Assess the property for hazards before starting work
Use proper lifting techniques to avoid back injuries
Take breaks as needed, especially in extreme cold
Watch for signs of frostbite or hypothermia
Wear appropriate clothing and safety gear
Never work alone in isolated areas if you feel unsafe

Verification & Insurance

Snow Shovel Help app does NOT:

Conduct background checks on users
Verify user identities
Provide insurance coverage of any kind
Monitor interactions between users

NOTICE: The platform owner is NOT responsible for providing any WSIB, workers' compensation, or liability insurance to volunteers.

Medical Conditions

If you have any medical conditions that could be affected by cold weather or physical exertion, consult your doctor before volunteering as a helper.

Emergency Situations

In case of emergency, always call 911. Do not rely on the app for emergency assistance.

Vulnerable Populations

If you are elderly, have mobility issues, or are otherwise vulnerable, we strongly recommend having a trusted friend or family member present when volunteers arrive.

No Liability

Snow Shovel Help app and its operators assume NO LIABILITY for any injuries, damages, theft, or losses that occur through use of this platform. All interactions are AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Report Concerns

If you experience or witness unsafe behavior, harassment, or suspicious activity, please report it immediately through the app and to local authorities if necessary.
